ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
June traveled from England to Southern Africa in the late sixties to explore some of the region. At the time she was an accomplished horsewoman in the UK and was training horses and competing in show jumping events around the country. Her visit to Africa was planned to be for six months, after which she was to continue with her equestrian career. However after a two-week trip into Botswana to see the Okavango and the San People of the Kalahari she decided this was where she wanted to stay. She also met her future husband Tim on this trip.
The wide open spaces, the wildlife and the friendly people instantly captivated June and having always had a keen interest in photography she was anxious to capture images of her journey. June has worked closely on and photographed the many varied projects and adventures she and Tim have been involved with. From launching and living on the riverboat the ‘Sitatunga’ in the early 70’s, to building and running safari camps and lodges, exploring remote areas of Botswana and producing 17 wildlife documentaries for television and an Imax film. During this time she recorded all these adventures and productions on 35mm still film until the advent of digital technology a few years ago.
The Liversedge’s have an impressive image library of the fauna and flora of the country as well as an amazing collection of aerial images which June has taken whilst Tim was piloting the light aircraft he has used for several decades surveying the country, particularly the Okavango and the Makgadikgadi regions.
June has had a gallery close to Maun airport since 1981 where she exhibits and sells Botswana crafts, jewellery, carvings and sculptures as well as her photographic images of the country. Her passion however is to be out in the wilds with her cameras ‘capturing the moment’.
